Lisa's Technique
Singing is a physical sport, and just like any other sport, you can easily injure yourself if you are not doing it correctly. Learning to sing is not just about sounding pretty, it is about mastering the fundamentals of breathing, supporting, and strengthening the diaphragm and body, allowing your throat to be open and healthy and prevent any chance of injury. When you build on a healthy foundation, you gain strength, stamina, and the freedom to perfect your artistic craft.
Breathing and supporting properly are the foundation for successful singing. We do specific vocal exercises that stretch and strengthen the vocal chords, making them more flexible, increasing vocal range and ensuring the sound is more solid and controlled. We delve into mouth position, formation of vowels, song interpretation, and diction which varies with different styles of music. Then, as with all good technique, repetition guarantees these skills become second nature and are accessed effortlessly.
Techniques learned here not only benefit singers, actors and dancers but people from all walks of life . Learning how to properly project the voice and build a solid core are skills that will last a lifetime, no matter what career you choose.
