I grew up in West LA amongst an abundance of beauty and culture. I was surrounded by theater and film people as well as a strong classical and rock/pop influence.
My background in music as a performer includes a plethora of musicals, singing on TV and in films, voice-overs, rock n’ roll, country rock, and pop bands, The LA Chambers Singers and the comedy domestic rock n’ roll band The Housewives. I’ve sung with artists ranging from Shirley Jones to the Doobie Brother’s, and as my ongoing character on “The Waltons”. I’ve also recorded albums (my own and others), written a musical, & written music and songs for various TV and film projects.
Teaching began at early age, when LAUSD lost their funding for music and I, as a student, stepped in to teach. It came very naturally to me. After getting a voice scholarship to UCLA, I began performing professionally, studying and mastering the voice. Wanting to understand the mechanics of voice on a physiological and medical bases, I studied with well renowned Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, Dr. Charles Schneider. There’s also a huge psychological aspect to singing and working with the vocal cords and for that I worked with Dr. Randi Gunther PHD. I then studied with my master vocal coach, Lee Sweetland on how to best perfect the art of teaching voice.
For the past 25 years I have been teaching singing on every level. From the beginning novice to the consummate professional and everything in between. I taught Disney stars, country artists, rock n’ rollers, pop performers and opera singers. I’ve written original songs for students, and produced vocal demos, professional CD’s and videos. Song interpretation is crucial! I coach my students in preparation for their auditions and their performances in TV shows, films, concerts and Broadway theater.
I love what I do! Singing is joyous, yet hard work and it’s so important you do it right. Bottom line, I want you to have fun!
